Adrian’s PowerBook hard drive failed a couple of weeks ago so yesterday we replaced it with a brand spanking new drive.
We thought it would be interesting to photo document the process so if anyone else was in a similar situation, they could do the same to their PowerBook.
- Acquire yourself a geek to undertake work and purchase necessary new equipment.
- Give geek cash to purchase new hard drive online and bribe with beer or similar.
- Once hard drive has arrived, take PowerBook to geeks house and get started on taking apart.
- Whilst taking the hard drive out, try to inflict as much damage as possible to the old hard drive for the inconvenience caused by its failing.
- Place new hard drive in slot and attach the necessary wires.
- Close PowerBook back up making sure to get all fiddly cables in the right places.
- Start PowerBook back up and insert Mac OS X DVD installer disc.
- Install Mac OS X.

HAHA awesome!!!!!
loving the text in the pics!!!
cheers geek :)
So, if I try to phone 1 -800 - CALL - GEEK will David answer?
haha :D
yes he will…. except he’s only the local geek for the london SE area ….. so maybe u’ll get the local NY Geek…. he’ll look much the same as dave though… they are all the same breed!!!!! :D
Actually, I could get someone from http://www.geeksquad.com, however, I think that the geeks with the British accents (which is essential because it makes the computer repair process more interesting and entertaining) cost more money to hire as there are the import fees… sigh. So, actually… Adrian, you’re in better luck than I.
damn right they cost more!!! haha… actually he was pretty cheap.. only a few pints and my mac was fixed :)
I guess i’ll be called upon at some point though in repayment!
but locate ur local geek… u never know when u might need him!!
